Cameron, Channel 8 News

Dear Channel 8,

Imagine this, everyday when you want water you have to drink water that is brown in color and not clean. Or, what about this fact, about every 20 seconds one person dies because they don’t have access to clean water, or, about 10% of all diseases can be traced to bad drinking water. That’s just a couple facts about what I am learning along with some other people. I think that you should let us, the 6A pod, promote our “Make a Difference Fair,” so many people will come and we raise enough money so that the people that are struggling can be helped. Why? You may ask, because people need to know how bad these things are, how bad their lives are, and it may encourage many people to make a difference every day, and that could make peoples’ lives a whole lot better.

The things we researched, are heartbreaking! Those people you see sitting on the curbs asking for money, have no homes. People in Africa have terrible water. Kids who have autism or other special needs, need new devices to make their lives easier. All of these things are things that we researched and are making booths to raise money for. Just imagine if you had to deal with any of those things that I previously stated. It would be hard.

Participating in our “Make a Difference Fair”, will encourage you and your viewers (if you choose to advertise this) to make a difference in one or more peoples’ lives. Ever since we started researching our topics, it made me feel like I had the good life and the kids and parents in Africa had it rough, really rough, and then it made me think. I thought about the kids and parents here in Lincoln, and then I thought just in this school. All that thinking made me a different person, someone who will make a difference if it’s needed but I’m definetly not the only one that has changed. I know of a lot of people, that were always this good, and this only encouraged them to do better. It changed some of us, and maybe it could change some of you.

You may say,”We are too busy,” or, “We have other things to talk about,” and then just do nothing, but we need your help. Besides, if you don’t have 5 minutes to talk about our “Make a Difference Fair”, then you should have enough money to come and donate a little bit to the charities (this is all non-profit). It would only take 5 minutes to make one big difference.

Now that you’ve read about making a difference, help us make that difference.

“We have it in our power to change the world over.“

Sincerely,
Cameron
